Rapid Response to Redundancies
Redundancy is a very stressful time and when it happens it affects every aspect of an individual’s life. In response Business Solutions has put together a proposal for supporting individuals going through this difficult transition. The support proposed would be for professionals up to middle management level.
Key issues that are common to everyone are:
• How to get a job in the current climate
• How to organise your day
• How to cope financially
Bearing these in mind, there are a number of different options available by providing support to individuals who have been made redundant:
1. A 6/8 week programme – combining practical classroom based sessions with individual sessions and the support of small groups formed within the programme. Individuals would have to commit to the 6/8 weeks, but with the added benefit of getting to know people who can support them and understand their situation. As the “normal” turnaround for any role is usually around 3 months, this would fall in line with any job applications they were making. Maximum number of attendees would be 20.
2. A one week programme followed by a week of individual sessions. Content same as one above but run in one week.
3. Choice of 4 modules with the follow up sessions – but individuals would only commit to the individual sessions not the whole programme. Difference between this and the first option is that there would not be the same opportunity for forming small support groups.
Prior to deciding which option will suit them the individuals would attend an introductory session called “Managing Expectations” lasting 2/3 hours which would cover:
• The current climate – why is this different? Has this happened before?
• The normal job turnaround
• Staying positive – what to do with your time
• Choosing your options – individual modules, 1 or 6/8 week programme
• Benefits guidance
During the sessions we would gain feedback from delegates so that we can customise the order of the modules for the coming programmes.
