Complex shift patterns and travel problems proved no obstacle for Business Solutions LTD when dealing with a major logistics company.
The Elite Group in Wortley, Leeds approached Leeds Thomas Danby’s Business Solutions department when migrant workers required English classes. The college provided a tutor on site with two hour lessons planned to fit around staff shifts.
General language skills covered relevant subjects essential for their work, including contracts for employment, communicating with colleagues and health and safety. Staff attending the classes were from Eastern Europe, Kurdistan, Afghanistan and Lithuania.
The training has proved so successful, the courses have been rolled out to include Elite’s sister site in Bramley. Elite Processing’s Support Services Manager, Sue Hay, said: “The classes are working very well. Leeds Thomas Danby are tailoring courses to our staff, their working hours and the company’s requirements while providing our employees with the opportunity for continued progression.”
