West Yorkshire Transport Services
Business Solutions LTD put a transport company on the road to success after completing the first year of Skills for Life training.
The college has run a series of courses for West Yorkshire Transport Services, who transfer 1,200 special needs passengers a day to more than 100 schools and respite centres across the Bradford district. Business Solutions LTD introduced numeracy, literacy and IT courses at the company, with two hour sessions held on a weekly basis in on-site training rooms.
HR Manager, Julie Welch, said: “We were aware of the ethnic diversity of our employees and language barriers, along with the fact that a high percentage of our staff were aged over 50 and wanted to improve on their own IT skills. These skills will help them in their personal lives and enable them to support their children and grandchildren.”
Student Pam Cryer, who completed all three courses on offer, said: “It is a great opportunity for people who want to brush up on their skills and gain a little more confidence.” Husband and wife team, Len and Linda Raine, added: “It has given us the chance to learn something new.”
